中国气象局办公室主任、新闻发言人新文在气象局2009年11月份新闻发布会上谈到11月1日的大雪及人工增雪问题时说：“人工增雪只能起到一定的作用，这次大雪主要是由天气系统突然加强造成的。按照专家意见，主要是回流天气，也就是海上水气输入，造成北京局部地区的大雪天气。”
人民网报道，中国气象局应急减灾与公共服务司陈振林司长说：这场雪是好雪，在一定程度上缓解了北京的乾旱状况。
尽管如此，当得知此次大雪有人为因素的时候，有不少网友表示质疑，人工增雪是否应该提前告知社会公众。“就算不告知社会公众，起码也该通知下民航、机场、交通等部门吧！”

虽然北京有比较完善的应急系统，在雪情发生时，北京市政府和供暖、环卫、交通等部门，以最快的速度做出处理，减少了不便和损失。但据了解，11月1日当天，北京首都国际机场计划出港航班257个，实际出港57个，共有200个出港航班延误。有不少旅客在机场停滞了十几个小时之久。
央视《共同关注》节目中，评论员杨禹指出：有关方面确实是好心办了件好事，但也令人遗憾地顾此失彼，”没有提前向其他部门和广大市民打声招呼，使得全市各方面对突降的大雪猝不及防，首都机场有200多个航班因此而延误，上万旅客在机场苦等整整一天”。他建议人工增雪应提前跟市民打招呼。
