今日，广州从下午5时起开始落出现强降雨，根据市水务局的监测显示，在一小时内，市区就落下70毫米的雨量，达到大暴雨级别，造成市区部分地段出现水浸。据统计，市水务局服务监督热线87555555接到水浸街报告约30宗，共和路、海珠路等地都不同程度地出现了水浸街现象。广州市水务局排水处、市政维修处和自来水公司分别派出抢险人员在市区全面进行排涝巡查抢险，至记者发稿时止，情况已得到有效控制。
今日5时许，记者在大北立交处就看到，现场已经有5厘米多深的积水，车辆受此影响行驶极为缓慢，平时周末时较为畅顺的交通也顿时变得拥挤起来。而在惠福西路，积水更达到近20厘米，一直覆盖到惠福酒楼外的人行道，公交车无法驶入站台，只能早站前就停靠。而乘客下车后，也大多卷起裤脚，以免在水中中招。在海珠路与观绿路交界处，水浸情况也同样严重，行人根本无法通过，只能绕道到附近的小巷穿行。 “这么多年都没在3月份见过这种情况，如果现在水浸街都那么厉害，到了五六月时可怎么办？”在周边生活工作了10多年的市民伍颖向记者说。
“由于这场雨来得早、来得急，所以造成了市区比较多地方出现了水浸，由于缺乏参照系，也很难比较水浸情况是否比过去有所减轻。”广州市水务局有关负责人在接受记者采访时表示，由于目前还是3月份，部分水浸街易发地点的改造工程还在推进之中，所以造成了某些地段仍然水浸。
