当日上午，上海外白渡桥移桥工作正式开始。外白渡桥南段桥面在潮水上涨的情况下，借助驳船浮力被慢慢顶起，并在原地转向，由驳船运载从苏州河进入黄浦江，前往工厂进行维修。百年外白渡桥是上海外滩地区的标志之一，为配合上海外滩地区交通综合改造工程，外白渡桥整体移桥并进行修缮。修缮后的外白渡桥未来将重返原址。
