纽约州已经有不少人拿着那种带个星的 REAL ID 被抓捕了。 在纽约州那个星没什么用。 要象护照卡一样直接证明是公民身份，ID 上必须印着美国国旗的标志, 比如 enhanced driver's license。
A standard REAL ID only confirms your identity and legal presence in the U.S., not necessarily U.S. citizenship, as it can be issued to lawful permanent residents and other non-citizens; only specific Enhanced Driver's Licenses (EDLs) from a few states explicitly show citizenship, while a U.S. Passport remains the definitive proof of citizenship and legal status for federal purposes like flying domestically.
纽约州的ID 里只有Enhanced Real ID可以直接证明公民身份. 有一些州可以申请 Enhanced Real ID, 要求申请人不但是美国公民， 而且要是当地州的居民才可以申请。Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, or Washington 这几个州应该可以申请， 但是还是要和当地的DMV核对。
只有 real ID， 不能保证不被ICE骚扰， 甚至被抓。 不想被ICE 骚扰的话， 美国护照或护照卡该续期还是赶快续期吧。
