HOWARD W.
FRENCH在2003～2008年期间曾任纽约时报上海分社的社长。爱好摄影的HOWARD在业余时间漫步上海，无意中在离一个高档商业街道不远的地方发现了一个鲜为人知的居住区，这里有密集的摇摇欲坠的两层房屋，长长的小巷，满街都是讨价还价的人们，和从农村来城里找工作的人。

在导游手册里你不会找到上海的这部分，也很少在照片里看到，但HOWARD逐渐发现，上海有不少这样陈旧的，不为人们瞩目的区域。
