17日下午5时左右，湖南省株洲市市区红旗路一高架桥发生坍塌事故，目前人员伤亡情况不明。　　据株洲市现场救援指挥部初步探查，约有２０台路经市区红旗路高架桥桥下的车辆，因桥面坍塌被砸压。

　　新华社记者现场了解到，坍塌的桥墩共有８根，坍塌的桥面超过２００米。到２１时１０分，近２０００名公安干警、消防武警和武警正在全力救援。桥面坍塌后折成巨型水泥块，给现场搜救带来很大困难，现场救援指挥部决定分段清理。

　　据了解，红旗路高架桥是湖南省首座城市高架桥，１９９５年投入使用，全长２７５０米，桥面宽超过１６米，桥下净高８米。

　　由于此桥从株洲市闹市区红旗广场跨过，造成此处交通拥挤。当地决定实施拆除。５月５日此桥全封闭，禁止桥上通车，开始分段动工拆除。发生坝塌事故的桥段，原定在５月２０日实施爆破拆除。

　　这一高架桥坍塌发生在１７日下午４时２４分。事故原因还在调查之中。
