剧情梗概
顶级发型设计师水岛直树(本木雅弘饰)为慈善音乐节的工作来到上海，同行的还有他多年的恋人兼经纪人美帆(西田尚美饰)。他施展超人才华，精心为所有出场歌手设计出各具特色的发型。音乐节大获成功。然而水岛却郁郁不乐，工作看似一帆风顺却令他厌烦，更棘手的是与美帆的感情已濒临危机。而眼前还有一位对美帆单相思的河口(塚本高史饰)。面对河口不惜代价追求美帆的身影，水岛陷入了深深的忧虑之中。
他烦躁万分，恍惚地在街头游荡。他突然察觉自己身无分文，也没带证件。他习以为常地将一切托付给美帆，甚至连住宿饭店的名称也不知道。水岛只能独自在上海的夜幕中徘徊。
正在这时，一辆计程车意外地打断了他的思绪。这是一辆被撞得伤痕累累的车，开车的是一位女司机林夕(赵薇饰)。林夕为自己的莽撞驾驶向水岛道歉。一场奇妙的言语不通的观光旅程开始了。一个感谢对方的热情向导；一个以为钓到一条外国“大鱼”而暗自欢喜。
这时林夕接到冬冬(郭品超饰)——她梦中情人的电话。听到冬冬第二天结婚的消息，林夕由惊喜跌入了失望的深渊。在旁目睹一切的水岛，虽然不知道发生了什么，却从林夕痛苦的表情上仿佛看到了自己的影子。
而这时，音乐节会场因为水岛的失踪闹得沸沸腾腾。美帆和河口、水岛的助理原和翻译小沈，还有广告代理商山冈，都为寻找水岛纷纷涌向夜幕笼罩的上海。
同为失意中人的水岛与林夕，一次偶然的机遇，一个偶然的夜晚，渐渐地，他们将心中掩饰的伤痕、烦恼及空虚袒露给对方，两人的感情融汇到一个交点。超越国界，不需要语言，一个特殊的夜晚开始了……
